The distinctly agreed price list, and all terms and conditions, the Renter may make a reservation, in harmony with the procedure provided by Shift Car rental. Evidently specifying in advance, the model or vehicle type, the dispatch details, requesting accessories such as toddler seats.
When the Renter has made a reservation, upon delivery or collecting the car at the counter, Shift car rental will request an advance payment and agreed security deposit.
Changes to Reservations, The Renter shall send an official email in the event of booking cancellation or change of date 24 hours prior to the booking date.
Shift Car Rental promptly informs the customer when it is not possible to rent out the Rental Car reserved due to reasons attributable to the Company. In such a case, when it is not possible to rent out, a different Rental Car of the same model or vehicle class will be provided.

Documents are mandatory to verify prior to proceeding.
All verified documents except credit card information are all to be uploaded in TARS / DARB (Police System in UAE). It is a mandatory procedure by the Police Authority.
Note: Renters on UAE residence visa who are holding international driving license or Home Country License are not allowed to rent a car in accordance with Government Rules. In case a renter has changed his/her status from tourist Visa to Residence/Employment visa they will have to stop using the vehicle immediately as it is illegal to drive the vehicle. Any change in Visa status, UAE driving license and Visa page should be sent to SHIFT CAR RENTAL for updating in the system.
In case of noncompliance, the renter will be responsible for any penalty imposed by the Government Authorities, non-coverage of insurance, legal issues that may occur during the rental period.
IMPORTANT TO KNOW:
All Rental Rates include comprehensive (Basic with Excess Liability) insurance.
Value Added Tax (VAT) of 5% will apply for Rental charges and other services.
All Fleets are not allowed to drive /cross outside UAE without any permission and No Objection Letter from Shift Car Rental. Shift Car rental Fleets are prohibited to drive 500 meters from any border, in the event the car will be automatically immobilized.
All prices include services, maintenance, replacements during service / breakdown along with 24/7 roadside assistance.
ADVANCE PAYMENTS AND SECURITY DEPOSIT
Rental in Advance
A mandatory Security Deposit of 1,000 AED for Economy cars and 5,000 AED for Premium cars to be blocked on customer’s/ renter’s credit card which will be released by bank automatically to the cardholder account after 21-30 days. The Pre Auth / Security Deposit will be NO reversal Message nor will be reflected in customer’s statement of account.
Security Deposit from DEBIT Card will be charged as per agreed amount from the beginning of rental and it will be refunded within 30 days from the date of vehicle off hire.
The monthly Rental Agreement shall be deemed to be renewed automatically after the 21st day of your rental with the same terms and conditions (including the renewal of pre-authorized/blocked amount for security deposit). Kindly notify us three days prior to your rental expiry to discontinue payment charges for the subsequent monthly car hire.
TRAFFIC FINE & TOLL GATE (SALIK) INFORMATION
In case of any traffic violations and SALIK (toll Gate fee) in UAE, you won’t get served the notice straight away. The process will begin with the RTA Department sending the details to Shift Car Rental.
The process for dealing with the fine that gets sent to Shift Car Rental can be quite lengthy, with some Emirates taking months to submit the fine by RTA to Rental Company.
Shift Car Rental will pay the fine and SALIK and charge your credit card with the details you provided when you hired the car initially. In both instances, an admin fee will apply for the time in dealing with the Authorities, which is mandatory. You might not always receive a notification that this fee will be charged, but we have electronic email that the invoice / traffic violation details will be provided to let you know the fee will be taken. If you receive a charge from us sometime after you’ve hired the car, you can contact the Shift Accounts team for more information and to send you a copy of the violation invoice.
FUEL CONSUMPTION AND CHARGES
20% refueling fee is applicable on the fuel cost if car is returned with lesser level as compared to check out fuel level. (Difference amount)
BILLING CYCLE
Billing Cycle every 1st of the month. If rented in between the dates, a pro rata basis will be charged in advance for several days until the end of the month.
Please refer to your invoice for the new payment due date, if you are currently set up for automatic payments, your payment due date will be adjusted in accordance with the change in your billing cycle.
REFUND
In case of Refund, amount will be processed from the off-hiring date and will be released after 30 days.
CHARGE INFORMATION
A surcharge of 10% (Ten percent) will apply for every traffic violation incurred during the period the car is in the renter’s possession. Any late posted traffic violations will be charged directly to the credit card provided even after the closure of the agreement.
UAE Toll gate charges will be actual plus AED 1/- as admin fee will be applied per crossing and VAT is applicable on total amount. Any late posted Toll Gate fee will be charged directly to the credit card provided even after the closure of the rental agreement.
Tyre damage (puncture, burst, flat tyre, etc) are not covered under insurance and the cost of repairing/replacing the tyre must be borne by the customer. No assistance will be provided for such damage.
In case of early return, daily rates will apply if vehicle is using less than 07 days, and weekly rates if more than 07 days and less than 30 days.
In case of loss or damage of Registration document (Mulkiya) applicable charges are AED 100 for DXB plate & AED 500.00 for AUH plate cars.
Original key charges in case of loss or damage will be borne by the renter. The cost will vary from vehicle to vehicle.

INSURANCE CLAUSES:
Basic Insurance does not cover damage to wheels, windscreen and tire puncture.
A police report is mandatory in an event of accident/unknown damage. A final police report is mandatory, or else the renter will need to pay the complete repair charges.
All SHIFT vehicles include comprehensive (Basic with Excess Liability) insurance. Should the police report confirm that the renter is at fault during an accident or reports unknown damage, he /she is liable to pay an excess liability as per the table. This can be waived if SCDW has been taken.
An additional amount of 10% will be charged on the total cost of damage plus an insurance excess of AED 2,000 if the renter is below 22 years of age.
If the age is above 65 years, then prior approval must be taken from the insurance company before renting. Approval will take a minimum of 24 hours.
Renters holding a UAE Driver’s License which is less than 06 months should provide the home country driver’s license which should be held for a minimum period of 2 years as supporting document at the time of renting the vehicle. Else, 10% of the entire damage cost will apply in addition to Insurance excess of 2000 AED.
Zero Insurance coverage under the influence of drug and alcohol, renter is liable to pay the rental till final judgement.
Adverse Weather Conditions:
Rain / Flood / Hailstorm:
Please ensure that a police report is obtained, where applicable, indicating that the vehicle was submerged in rainwater while parked. Once the police report is obtained, please notify the Aftersales Team so that they can arrange for the collection of the vehicle and provide a replacement as per the terms of the contract. Please be aware that in situations where third-party involvement is not specified or in cases of natural calamities, insurance excess will apply.
As per insurance regulations, driving forcefully in flooded areas or attempting to start the engine of vehicles submerged in rainwater will be deemed as vehicle abuse. Such actions will not be covered under the insurance policy terms. In the event of such circumstances, the customer will be liable for the total repair charges, and no replacement vehicles will be provided.
